Despite the torrential downpour and possible 2-inch thick mud, cowboys and cowgirls gave it their all and made the best of the weather for the final day, and the championship, of the Calgary Stampede Rodeo.

The 2016 Calgary Stampede Tie-Down Roping Championship title went down to the United States as Shane Hanchey, from Sulphur, Louisiana, had a stellar run in the mud, earning him the fastest time of 7.9 seconds.

Bareback riding kept spectators' attention as it was a head to head showdown between Steven Peebles, from Redmond, Oregon, and Caleb Bennett, from Trementon, Utah, who both tied in the original Performance 11 with a score of 87.5, which prompted a tie-breaking ride to be called where Peebles came out the winner with a final score of 83 points on Wild Wood Flower.

While Cochrane's own Tanner Milan competed in Steer Wrestling, he didn't make the cut as he struggled to bring down his steer in the mud, causing him not to place in the final four. The title went to Wyoming's own Seth Brockman, who had the fastest time of 4.7 seconds, winning himself the title.

With spectators already fired up, the cheering was deafening for Stampede favorite Mary Burger and her horse, Mo, who took the Ladies Barrel Racing by storm. While Burger only placed 3rd in the original top four, she wowed the crowd with her final run as she finished with a time of 17.99 seconds beating Mary Walker by a hair as she ran with a time of 18.00 seconds. Burger won herself the 2016 Calgary Stampede Barrel Racing Championship title.

Last, but not least, Cody Teel from Texas snagged himself the 2016 Calgary Stampede Bull Riding Championship title as he rode Liquid Fire, earning himself a phenomenal 91.5 points and the only competitor who placed in the final round against the top four contestants.

Each contestant who won the title took home $100,000 and some big smiles along with memorable trophies and a place in the Calgary Stampede Rodeo history books.
