The Airdrie Lightning Peewee AA Hockey team will play for their League Championship this weekend in a best of three playoff series.

After winning the South Division for the Peewee side, the Lightning now have a date with the Medicine Hat Hounds to determine who moves on to the AA provincials.

Game one goes tonight in Medicine Hat before the Lightning bring it home on Saturday morning at the Ron Ebbessen Arena.

The Lightning head into this Championship series on a hot streak, having not lost a game since February 28th.

That's when the Medicine Hat Hounds came barking in, winning 12-3 in their own arena.

After that blowout victory, it's been an up and down road for the Hounds who've only recorded 4 wins so far in March.

The Championship Games will be a different story, as both teams hit the ice at 8pm at the Hockey Hounds Recreation Centre.

Family and friends of the Airdrie Lightning are hoping to pack the house at Ron Ebbessen for their only match of the series late Saturday morning.

That game gets underway at the Blue Arena at 11:45am.
