The Nose Creek Valley Museum in Airdrie is working hard to re-open to the public.

The Museum was closed along with countless others across Alberta due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, as part of phase one of the province’s relaunch strategy, museums were once again allowed to open their doors, but with several changes.

Harvey said visitors will not be allowed to physically interact with any of the exhibits or artifacts for the time being. She adds there is still work to be done before they are ready to open.

“We’re working hard, it’s all behind the scenes,” she said. “It’s hard to clean artifacts when you can’t use cleaners so it’s taking a bit longer. They’re fragile so you have to take different approaches.”

There is no set date to re-open just yet, but Harvey said they are hoping to be ready to go in the first half of June.

“We’ve missed having people here and we want to welcome them back, we just have to make sure we are being safe.”
