Chestermere RCMP will be celebrating the Grand Opening of their new detachment.

The new portion of the Protective Services Building will act as Chestermere's newest RCMP detachment with the Grand Opening on Wednesday, September 30 at 2:30 pm.

A ceremonial march will help commemorate the occasion starting at City Hall around 2:30 pm before the official opening celebration.

The RCMP will be offering tours after the ceremony closes around 5:30 pm along with a complimentary barbecue for all those in attendance.

Tours will consist of a walk-around of the building as well as information on the RCMP's support units such as Forensic Identification, Traffic Services, Police Dog Section, RCMP helicopter, RCMP recruiting, and the Explosive Disposal Unit will all be at the Grand Opening if not out on the job.

Chestermere RCMP and the City of Chestermere are inviting the public to come out to take a tour, learn more about RCMP operations in the city, and celebrate with the rest of the community.
