The Cochrane Generals are a perfect 2-0 to start their Heritage Junior Hockey League (HJHL) season.

Heading into Airdrie Friday night, the team picked up a 4-2 win off the back of veteran Corey Goeson who scored a hat trick in the contest.

The Junior B hockey team dominated the majority of the game, giving up two late goals but still holding on for their first win of the regular season.

"We had a shorter training camp than most teams and we responded very well," said Evan McFeeters, Head Coach of the Generals.

"Our team feels great about themselves, there's a lot of new guys that feel contagious about the atmosphere in our room and there's a lot of optimism going into the season. We feel that we're a favourite to win a lot of games and our players are excited to show up to the rink."

Cochrane displayed that positive attitude again on Saturday as they visited the Strathmore Wheatland Kings, out shooting the squad 55-33 in the contest and picking up a 4-1 win.

While Goeson had a three goal night on Friday, line-mate Talus Hume had a hat trick of his own on Saturday. McFeeters said their chemistry is off the charts.

"They've been playing together on the same line for about 5 years now so basically I just tap them on the shoulder and they go out there and do their thing."

Although the Generals are out to a hot 2-0 start, McFeeters said his team is just going to take it one game at a time, ensuring they play a hard, fast and complete game.

"Our determination, our focus, our emotional control has got to be there shift after shift because as everyone knows this league is tough to win in, so by game 35 in the season we want to be 100 percent certain that we're playing from the first whistle right to that final buzzer."

The Generals hit the ice again on Friday for their home opener against the Blackfalds Wranglers before hosting the Okotoks Bisons on Saturday.
