The George McDougall Mustangs didn't have to lift a finger, or a football, to move up one spot in the Alberta Football Tier Two High School rankings this week.

The Mustangs had a bye last week but still improve by one spot, moving from eighth to seventh in the rankings of schools with a student population of 750 to 1,249.

It's no surprise that another area team is still the top-ranked Tier Three team in the province.

The Cochrane Cobras disposed of the Chestermere Lakers by a 55 - 14 score on Friday and in the process established a new Alberta High School football record by winning their 40th consecutive game.

That sets up an interesting matchup this weekend when the Mustangs play host to the Cobras at noon Saturday at the Ed Eggerer Field in Airdrie.

The Mustangs were the last team to beat the Cobras, but that happened in October 2014.
