With temperatures warming up this weekend, a group of volunteers is taking advantage of the weather and encouraging you to stay active.

On Saturday, the Youth Volunteer Corps (YVC) in Airdrie is hosting a series of pop-up sessions in commemoration of ParticipACTION Month.

Dorothy May with the corps said the idea for the pop-ups came during some of their virtual sessions.

"We had the youth map out the community assets and areas of need and they came up with this theme that they wanted to encourage Airdrie residents to enjoy our parks and get active because it's so good for our health."

The YVC also wanted to highlight local businesses which is why they've partnered with local fitness instructors from places like Orange Theory, F45, Yoga Junction and Tri-Fit.

The events will take place at Nose Creek Park and in front of F45 in Cooperstowne Promenade from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday.

The youth also wanted to make sure all ages were included in ParticpACTION month and found some creative ways to do that.

"The youth started by making and recording a fitness video that we sent off to our friends at Bethany Care and so we are happy that they can be involved in ParticpACTION Month."
