Stephen's Backpacks Society has stepped up once again to help three new kids to the area with much-needed school supplies.

Nancy McPhee, the Executive Director of Stephen's Backpacks Society talked about how they received a phone call for help.

"The latest call was from the Catholic School Board and there were three children that were starting school that had nothing."

Even though school only has about a month left McPhee knew they had to help.

"Normally, we don't do one on one, but I'm just really feeling that the need is so great right now, if we can do it, we do. These three children now can go to school with new running shoes and school supplies according to the whole Rockyview school list."

McPhee stated it was such a gift to be able to help these kids out.

"When the worker came in, she was just blown away, and you just know that these children are going to be very happy."

According to McPhee, there seem to be a lot more people needing help now more than ever.

"Wherever we can help out and alleviate some of that pressure. We're trying to, we can't meet everyone's needs, unfortunately. But when we can, we certainly do."

McPhee mentioned he has come up with a new idea to help raise funds to they are able to help redecorate more homes than they usually do.

"He just came up with another idea of planters. Him and the carpenter in the garage making these gorgeous planters. And it's going to be planting seeds of hope and all the money above the cost of the wood will go to helping us furnish homes and helping us do more backpacks."

They are hoping to start refurnishing around four houses a year, the next one hopefully being sometime in July.
