Josh Davies of Airdrie may have just had his best game with the Western Hockey League's Swift Current Broncos.  That is if things like scoring goals in handfuls and getting goals when killing off penalties mean something to you.

The 18-year-old who was drafted in the sixth round, 186th overall by the Florida Panthers in the 2022 NHL Draft, scored the first three goals for the Broncos, two of them coming via the short-handed route, to lift Swift Current to a 5 - 2 decision over the Edmonton Oil Kings last night (November 25).

Two of the goals came in the first period with the third, the game-winning goal incidentally, coming 21 seconds before the game's halfway point.  It was the first hattrick of his WHL career and gave Davies eight goals this season with the Broncos.   His performance also earned him the game's first star.  The win by Swift Current gives them a record of 10 - 11 this season.  They're tied for 10th with Prince Albert in the Eastern Conference of the Western League.

In 19 games with the Broncos this season, Davies has eight goals and six assists for 14 points. Last season he accounted for 16 goals and 20 assists for the Saskatchewan-based club.

Davies is a former member of the U15 Airdrie Xtreme and U18 CFR Bisons.  He was drafted into the WHL by Swift Current in 2019 as the 54th overall pick in round three of the Prospects Draft.  While playing with the Broncos, he was named to Team Canada's U18 squad at the 2022 World Championships.

The Broncos and Oil Kings will fo at it again tonight at 6:00 pm in Swift Current.
