The Airdrie Irish knew they'd be in tough yesterday (June 23) when they hosted the perennial powerhouses of the Alberta Football League, the Fort McMurray Monarchs.

However, Airdrie couldn't have dreamed just how tough it would be.

The big, bad Monarchs proved to be too much in every department of the game and rolled to an 86 - 0 whitewashing of the Irish at Genesis Field.

The win keeps the Monarchs perfect this season at 4 and 0.  After winning their first two games of the year, the Irish have fallen on hard times losing three in a row by a combined score of 189 - 7.

The only good news for the Irish is they now have two weeks to try to regroup and get ready for their next game, July 7th when they travel to Lloydminster to face the Vandals.
