Mounties are continuing to investigate what they said was a serious assault that occurred on Tuesday afternoon in Sundre, that sent two people to the hospital.

Though Sundre RCMP was on scene for much of the day on Wednesday morning, police later said that the scene was cleared.

Mounties were called to the scene in the town on Center Street on Tuesday afternoon and had initially alerted the public to stay away from the area due to the heavy police presence.

Police have not released other details about the incident, only saying that one individual was flown via STARS air ambulance to a Calgary hospital, while another was transported via ambulance to the hospital.
