Until the green light is given, little can be firmed up for the 2020-21 season of the Heritage Junior Hockey League (HJHL).

For now, the league is taking a headcount of whether all 14 of the existing clubs will be able to ice a team.

The league is reaching out to all teams to make sure that the funds are there for teams to be put together.

The Head Coach of the Airdrie Thunder says he hasn't been involved in any talks between the league and the Thunder to date.  Derek Stamp says he is keeping in touch with the players during, what has been a very long offseason.  He says he is anxiously waiting to hear what the league has planned.

The national and provincial hockey bodies are expected to provide some direction by the end of June as to what will unfold in the fall. But, like most things in this COVID-19 world, that's a best guess and depends upon the decisions of health officials.

The Thunder's season came to an end before the virus put a stop to play in the HJHL when they lost in the six games to the Mountainview Colts in the second round.
