A male driver has been killed following a serious motor vehicle collision on Highway 22.

Cochrane RCMP responded to the collision at 11:30 am Tuesday, involving two vehicles.

The collision occurred just south of Highway 1.

As RCMP arrived at the scene, EMS and the Cochrane Fire Department were already tending to the scene where one male was pronounced deceased.

Another adult male believed to be in his 60's was taken to Foothills Medical Centre by EMS in stable condition with minor injuries.

Northbound and Southbound lanes on Highway 22 have been closed from Highway 1 to Springbank Road as crews continue to investigate.

There is no timeline as to when the highway will reopen.
