The Calgary Flames split a slpit squad night with the Vancouver Canucks last night, losing 4-3 late in the game held on the west coast, while dazzling the home town crowd with a 5-1 win.

Niklas Hagman scored twice for the Flames, once on the power play. Mikael Backlund scored Calgary's other goal in the late game in Vancouver.

Greg Nemisz, Rene Bourque, Alex Tanguay, Tom Kostopoulos, and Lee Stempniak scored in Calgary.

Tanguay says even though it's preseason, the team wants to get into mid season form sooner rather than later.

The Flames head to Edmonton for a mini Battle of Alberta to continue their preseason on Saturday.
