The Calgary Flames came up short in their season opener against the Pittsburgh Penguins at the Saddledome last night. The Pens edged the Flames 5 to 3 in a game that saw the Flames try to mount a third period come from behind win that ultimately came up short. Curtis Glencross opened the scoring in the first period but then the Flames couldn't seem to connect with the net. Even without captain Sidney Crosby in the lineup, the Penguins scored four goals in the second period to solidify their win.

The Flames next game is Monday against the St. Louis Blues in St. Louis.
