In the Young Stars Classic, the Calgary Flames' top prospects had a busy weekend in Penticton BC. Unfortunately, it did not go as planned record-wise.

On Friday night (Sep 16), in their first game, the Flames faced the Vancouver Canucks to open the 2022 Young Stars Classic. The Flames had some excellent moments, but they couldn't really string them together into a strong performance. As a result, they lost 3-0 against the Canucks to begin their rookie tournament play.

After losing their initial game on Friday night, the Calgary Flames were hoping for a comeback performance on Saturday night (Sep 17) in Penticton. The Flames' defensive errors persisted despite the fact that they didn't commit as many penalties against the Edmonton Oilers as they did in their previous game. The Flames dropped their second game in as many nights, losing to Edmonton 4-1.

The Calgary Flames' final game Monday afternoon (Sep 19) was full of mixed blessings. The Flames scored three goals against the Winnipeg Jets, but their defensive blunders persisted, and they went on to lose the game by a score of 5-3.

Up next on the Flames' schedule is the start of training camp. Wednesday's medical check-ups and Thursday's on-ice sessions mark the start of the main camp. On Sunday night, split-squad games versus the Canucks will kick off the preseason in both Calgary and Vancouver.
