After an uninspired effort at home Wednesday night in a 7 - 3 loss to the Edmonton Oilers, the Calgary Flames were a different team on the road last night (March 19) in Toronto where they faced the Maple Leafs in the first of two games in two nights.

Calgary captain Mark Giordano scored a power-play goal 12:33 into the second period that turned out to be the winner as the Flames shut the door on Toronto for the remainder of the game in a 4 - 3 win.

Calgary moved to 15-13-3 on the year, one point behind fifth-place Vancouver who won their fourth in a row last night, beating fourth-place Montreal in overtime.  There are just two points separating the three teams.  Toronto's record drops to 19-10-2 and they remain tied atop the division with the Edmonton Oilers who have two games in hand.

Cochrane native and former Airdrie player Dillon Dube was plus two in the game but didn't have a shot on goal.

Tonight the Flames and Leafs go at it again in Toronto while the Oilers host the Winnipeg Jets.
