According to the Edmonton Public Schools sector of the Canadian Union of Public Employees, there will be a reduction in support staff for the 2013/2014 school year, province-wide.

President of the district, Carol Champan: "Our school district laid off record numbers of staff in June to make up for Alison Redford's funding shortfall. The reduction in funding will result in larger class sizes with less educational supports and programs for all of our students."

The report that was released states that public schools will have 350 less support staff than last year.

President of CUPE Alberta, Marle Roberts said, "In almost every school division across the province, trustees are laying off teachers and staff to make up for Alison Redford's broken promise to provide stable education funding."

Cut backs were made in spring of this year, and Roberts adds that she's worried there could be more in the fall semester.

CUPE Alberta represents almost 90,000 support workers throughout the province.
