Cochrane held its second annual Winterfest on Saturday, January 28, and by all accounts it was a big success.

Brooks Tower with the organizing committee, says they had approximately 1300 in paying attendance and about another 100 in non-paying; this despite it being a chillier day than last year.

While the organizers have yet to hold their official debrief, Tower says they are very pleased with this year's event and have some big plans for next year. Some ideas they are tossing about include a Rideau Canal-like skating area and perhaps expanding Winterfest to two days.

Tower says this year's event held a number of highlights - including three ice surfaces, a the Stampede Stage with a DJ, and a demonstration by Alberta Bobsleigh - but his favourite may have been the hay maze and the "bonus" at the end.
