The 6th annual Cochrane Seniors Curling bonspiel is taking place November 25th to 28th at the Cochrane Curling Club.

Taking over the 4 sheets of ice will be 108 curlers coming from Cochrane, Airdrie, Calgary, Springbank, Bragg Creek, and Cremona.

Seniors curling is for those individuals over 50, and Douglas Campbell, Drawmaster and Spiel Steering Committee Coordinator, says this year they were able to expand their scope.

"We've got enough super seniors that we've got a square dedicated for those that are over age 75, we have 6 teams in that square. We have a social square of 65 year olds - there is 6 in that square. We have a social square of 60 year olds, and two comepetitve squares 55-plus and a 70-plus."

Campbell says besides bragging rights, there is some cash to be won as well.

"The winners get $40 for the first win, $60 for their second, $80 for the third, $100 for their fourth, and square winners get another bonus of $100 - and everybody gets a $25 roast beef dinner."

Campbell encourages spectators to come cheer them on.

The opening toss gets underway at 8 am, 10:10 am, 1:10 pm and 3:30 pm daily until the 28th.
