To say Kyle Moortgat is an overachiever seems to understate his athletic abilities.

The Rocky View High School Football League chose him as MVP, on the senior basketball team he made all-star, qualified for zones in badminton and took bronze in the 400 metre race at the Provincial Track and Field meet in Calgary earlier this month.

Those sorts of credentials make it no surprise that Moortgat, in Grade 11 at Cochrane High, became the school's Male Athlete of the Year, June 14.

Cochrane High School teacher and coach Rob McNab calls Moortgat "very coachable", an athlete who let's his ability speak volumes on the field.

Kristen McNab was honoured as CHS Female Athlete of the Year.

She is accomplished at several sports - outstanding in basketball, made it to zone finals in badminton, excelled in goal on the school's soccer squad and walked away with bronze finishes in the Calgary Provincial Track and Field event.

Mikaela McNab was named Junior Female Athlete of the Year while Aiden McKeage took Junior Male Athlete of 2013.
