Cochrane's growth over the last few decades has brought about significant opportunities for the community, including more local shopping, a revitalized downtown, the remediation of the Domtar site and more diversified housing options. That, according to Mayor Truper McBride, who says to maintain growth that has positive benefits for Cochrane, Town council has recently started work on a new Open Space Strategy. McBride thinks the plan is going to produce some interesting results.

McBride adds, planning for that community is about more than just building new houses. Recreational and park space has to be considered, along with infrastructure to allow residents options for transportation, and better land choices for businesses. The Open Space Strategy will highlight these and should be completed by June, 2012.
