Tuesday morning Cochrane RCMP responded to a call that a boy was hit by a vehicle in a marked crosswalk.

Around 7:50 am, the 11 year old boy was crossing the road at Glenpatrick Drive and Glenbow Road.

RCMP say a red SUV rolled up and hit the boy, knocking him back.

Cochrane RCMP say the female driver of the SUV was aware that she hit the child but later sped away eastbound onto Glenbow Drive without stopping.

EMS was not required at the scene and the child's parents were notified of the incident.

RCMP are asking the driver of the SUV to come forward.

There was an eyewitness at the scene but RCMP are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact Cst. Lindsay Lentowicz at the Cochrane RCMP at 403-851-8000.
