Airdrie resident Paul Schulz was recently given a national recognition for his service as City Manager.

During Monday's council meeting, Schulz was presented with a letter from the Canadian Association of Municipal Administrators (CAMA) acknowledging his 25 years in the role.

Reacting to the letter, Schulz said he never in his wildest dreams imagine he'd be honoured on a national level.

"(I'm) so fortunate to be doing what I love doing in the community that I love."

Schulz background is in business having obtained a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Calgary and a Master's of Business Administration from Nova Scotia Southeastern University.

He has also been a member of the Airdrie Rotary Club since 1998.

Schulz explained what has made his job so enjoyable over the years.

"Running the City of Airdrie in a business-like fashion. In doing that (I'm) putting my print on how you set up a culture, an organizational culture, a structure and how you best and most efficiently provide service to your customers which is the community."
