Things are coming along nicely for the Bearspaw Glendale Community Association (BGCA) 2nd Annual Golf Tournament.

Jens Lipper, Chair of the BGCA and the Bearspaw Soccer Committee says they're at about 2/3 sold of their available opportunities for sponsorship and only about 50% of golfing spots sold.

"It's going very well," according to Lipper. "I'm not concerned that the tournament will sell out this year."

Funds raised by the tournament will go to the proposed expansion to the Bearspaw Lifestyle Centre, with a concrete surface that can be iced for a NHL-sized hockey rink, with can be easily converted to turf for other sports such as a regulation-size soccer pitch or a regulation-size lacrosse field.

$23,000 was raised for the cause in 2011. It's expected that they should sell all 144 available spots by the beginning of May for the 2012 event.

"Considering last year we started to fully advertise this weeks from now, we're certainly far ahead in comparison to where we were last year," claims Lipper.

The tournament will also feature an appearance from Manchester United's Bryan Robson. He will also be doing a bunch of soccer workshops in the area.
