Airdrie's Minor Hockey Association is looking to invest in the future of female hockey this offseason.

The AMHA will offer a four day development camp aiming to encourage girls to grow as athletes in the sport they love.

"We are striving to raise awareness of our Female Hockey program in Airdrie, while at the same time bring some high quality instruction to the players," says Rob Sutherland, AMHA's VP of Female Programs, "This development camp will be the first of its kind in Airdrie, as we continue to show our female players, who have played in both mainstream and female specific divisions, just how much fun they can have and how much they can learn and grow by playing girls hockey."

Veteran instruction will be provided from Colin Forbes who has played 311 NHL games over 9 seasons with the Philadelphia Flyers, Tampa Bay Lightning, Ottawa Senators, New York Rangers and Washington Capitals.

Female players can register for the camp via the AMHA website, while registration for the 2016/2017 Airdrie Minor Hockey season opens up June 1st for existing members.
