On Tuesday, May 24, the City of Airdrie and the local Fire Department announced the removal of the Fire Advisory.

The damp conditions last week in the city was enough to lift the advisory which was put out earlier this month.

"Approximately 30 millimetres in our area," says Airdrie's Deputy Fire Chief Ken Hubbard, "has changed some of the dry conditions and the wind conditions to make it more favourable for lifting the fire ban."

With the Advisory officially removed, Hubbard explains that anyone needing a fire permit can obtain one from the city.

Despite the change in weather and improving conditions, you're still asked to be careful when operating any fire

"We still want to make people are very cautious when they're using their own fire pits in their own backyards," says Hubbard, "Making sure they're using their firepits and burning debris properly."

Hubbard also advises you to take extra precautions, including not idling a vehicle on a rural property with high garss and extinguishing any fire pits or burning piles before they spread.
