With the WHL hockey season just around the corner, Airdronian Josh Davies is prepped and for this season with the Swift Current Broncos.

It was a busy summer for Davies as he was selected with the 186th overall pick in the 6th round in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft by the Florida Panthers on July 7. Along with spending time with his friends and family during the summer he also had hockey camps to attend.

Davies’ hockey season starts this Friday as they have their first home game of the regular season against the Calgary Hitman. The Broncos held their training camp a few weeks ago, and for Davies, it was good to see all his teammates, staff and his billets.

“It was good to get back down there [Swift Current] and see all the guys [teammates] and see how they developed over the summer.”

His goals for this season are to be really consistent and work on his all-around game while trying to earn himself an NHL contract.

“I got to play well this year in order to get a contract. I got to make sure I'm prepared and have my routine down.”

For Davies, it would mean so much to play in the NHL, mentioning ever since he was a little kid, he always dreamed of playing in the NHL and signing his first pro contract.

“It would mean the world for myself and for my family, they are my biggest supporter, so I wouldn't be where I am without them.”

When it comes to the team goals for the season, Davies mentioned they are a young team that could do a lot of damage this year.

“I think we're ready to come into the league this year and be one of the top teams and go deep into the playoffs and hopefully win a championship.”

Last season with the Swift Current Broncos Davies, connected for 16 goals and 20 assists for 36 points in 64 games while being assessed 119 minutes in penalties.
