The Airdrie Xtreme closed out their Alberta Major Bantam Hockey Leauge (AMBHL) regular season with a big victory prior to the playoffs.

With two games over the weekend, the Bantam AAA hockey team managed to skate away with another win over the SEAC Tigers.

It wasn't the best start to the weekend however, as the Xtreme fell 6-2 to the Red Deer Rebels on Saturday.

Despite the loss, the Xtreme would rebound against Medicine Hat's SEAC Tigers at Ron Ebbesen Arena on Sunday and pick up a 7-2 victory.

Jake Neighbours and Logan Nellis had the hot hand for the Xtreme, each netting a pair of goals in what would be the final win for the Xtreme this season.

Now the Airdrie squad gears up for the AMBHL playoffs where they will open up their best-of-three series against the Ram South Division Champion Lethbridge Val Matteoti Golden Hawks.

Game 1 gets underway Tuesday in Lethbridge while the Xtreme will host game 2 at Ron Ebbesen Arena at 7:15 pm on Thursday.

The Xtreme have not advanced to the Divisional Finals since 2012/13, as this will mark the second straight year that Airdrie will matchup with Lethbridge in the first round of the playoffs - forcing both games to double overtime last season before being eliminated.
