The Airdrie Techmation Thunder split a pair of weekend games and have done the same in the Heritage Junior Hockey League (HJHL) this season.

Airdrie has compiled a 4 - 4 mark, good for eight points in league play.  They sit tied for fourth in the HJHL North Division with the Rocky Rams who have played four more games than the Thunder.

Airdrie took on a pair of North Division rivals this weekend.  On Friday they hosted the 6 - 3 Mountainview Colts who sit in second place in the South.

Jack Turton scored an unassisted marker just past the seven-minute mark of the first period to establish a 1 - 0 lead for the Thunder.  Mountainview came back to take a 2 - 1 lead on goals 46 seconds apart from Jordan Saunders and Jay Heistad before Jacob Cathcart tied it for Airdrie with six seconds remaining in the second.

Despite being outshot 14 - 5 in the third, Dace Carlson scored the period's only goal at the 2:40 mark and the Thunder came away with a 3 - 2 victory.

Airdrie goalie Austin White stopped 38 of the 40 shots he faced while the Thunder only managed 24 shots against Shayne Price who was between the pipes for the Colts.

Saturday night the Thunder were in Red Deer for a game against the Vipers.

The first period ended in a 1 - 1 tie with Jeremy Jobin scoring with the man advantage before Red Deer tied it on their own power play.

After Red Deer took a 2 - 1 lead three-and-a-half minutes into the frame, the teams accounted for four more goals in the final seven minutes of the period, with Airdrie markers from Jacob Cathcart and Tanner Chapman.  The second period ended with Red Deer up 4 - 3,

The Thunder knotted things up on a goal by Aidan Moore just past the 15-minute mark of the third and it looked like the game could go to overtime.  But a Viper goal from Lyndon Robertson just before the 18-minute mark led the Thunder to pull goaltender Josh Feddema in favour of an extra-attacker.  Riley Turre of the Vipers fired the puck into the empty cage with less than a minute to play to give Red Deer the 6 - 4 win.  The Vipers outshot Airdrie by a two-to-one margin, 46 - 23.

The Vipers improved their record to 4-5-1, good for third in the South Division.

Next up for Airdrie is a game with the High River Flyers Friday night at the Bob Snodgrass Rec Complex in High River.  The Flyers are in a third-place tie with the Medicine Hat Cubs in the South Division with a 5-6 record.  Saturday night the Thunder entertain the Cubs in a 7:30 pm start in the Ron Ebbesen Arena.
