A local soccer team has done it again after claiming the bronze medal at the Provincial Championships last weekend (August 11th-13th).

The Airdrie FC Tier 2 Boys played a successful tournament, only losing once against Sherwood Park in the semi finals.

Their first match was a tough test against the Calgary West Cosmos, with goals from Vladimir Gonzalez and Christopher Arias.

Next up was a match against Medicine Hat. After falling behind 1-0, Airdrie's Tyler Quinn led the way, scoring both goals to secure a 2-1 victory.

With the two wins under their belt, Airdrie FC was ready for a semi final match with Sherwood Park.

The game would go back and forth with Christopher Arias and Colin Hughes scoring for Airdrie, while Sherwood Park's Brayden Caldwell and Cameron Guezman scored to tie the game 2-2. The game would eventually need penalty kicks, which Sherwood Park won.

The Airdrie Boys would eventually get their redemption in the Bronze Medal game, beating Fort McMurray 3-1 thanks to goals from Tyler Quinn, Chris Arias and Nigel Godden.

This Provincial Bronze helped cap a tremendous season for the team who went undefeated in regular season play and claimed two other medals at different tournaments.

The team won silver at the Summit Cup in Airdrie and a gold at the Harder Avalon Classic Tournament in Saskatchewan.
