As Hometown Hockey hits Airdrie this weekend (December 16-17), we look back at the players, coaches, trainers and unsung heroes that shaped Airdrie's Hockey history.

Ty Rattie made his family and all of Airdrie proud when he was drafted 32nd overall by the St. Louis Blues in 2011. The former Airdrie Lightning Elite and Bantam Xtreme player won the Western Hockey League Championship with the Portland WInterhawks in 2013, and was named playoff MVP.

Over the past few years, Rattie found himself back and forth with the Blues and their affiliate team in Chicago, as well as a five game stint with the Carolina Hurricanes.

After signing a two way deal with the Edmonton Oilers last off-season, Rattie is playing with their AHL team, the Bakersfield Condors, and is confident he'll get the call back to the NHL.

"Everything is going well here, just trying to play my best and then getting a call up as soon as I can so we'll see how it goes here."

Amidst Rattie's journey in professional hockey, he says his favourite memory was watching his favourite team play in Airdrie.

"I don't even know how old I would have been, but I'd go with my dad to watch the Airdrie Thunder and I thought that it was the coolest thing ever."

Rattie says he still cherishes his experiences playing hockey in the city.

"I was lucky enough to play on some really good teams in Airdrie and play with a lot of close knit friend. It was an awesome community, never had any problems. The Twin Blue Arena which obviously now is the Ron Ebbesen was a second home to me and my family. Can't go into detail over how many memories I have."
