A previous rainfall warning that was issued for Airdrie by Environment and Climate Change Canada, has been lifted.

On Thursday, the warning stated that heavy rain would accumulate totals of 50 to 70 millimetres of rain.

"Areas in the foothills will see heavy rain and embedded thunderstorms continue this afternoon and intensify through the evening hours," the warning previously stated.

The rain will taper off Friday morning, but the warning advised that heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.

"Watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts."

Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected. The warning was also in effect for Crossfield.
