A fire is under investigation after Airdrie fire crews responded to a two-storey home that was under construction in the Midtown neighbourhood earlier this evening.

Fire crews responded at approximately 8:15 p.m., after a neighbour had called, reporting smoke from the home.

According to city Fire Chief, Mike Pirie, when fire crews arrived, they found smoke coming from the second floor.

"Ladder 89 out of the Chinook Winds Station was able to locate and extinguish a fire on the main floor," Chief Pirie wrote.

The fire department responded with two fire engines and one ladder truck. One firefighter suffered a minor injury.

"The extent of damage and cause are not being released at this time as the fire is under investigation," the Fire Chief noted.

Fire crews are no longer on the scene. Previously blocked roads are now open.
