Taking a look around the league at local players heading into the 2011/2012 NHL season, 2011 First Round Draft pick Ty Rattie was returned to the Portland Winterhawks last week.

Yesterday, the Carolina Hurricanes sent Zach Boychuk down to the Charlotte Checkers of the AHL.

Dana Tyrell may be the only Airdrie player to start the season in the NHL, as he played last night in Tampa Bay's 4-0 win against the Montreal Canadians. He's still on the big team's roster, but the Bolts have until Monday to finalize their roster.
