Stacey Foster is a mother, a grandmother, and most recently an arm wrestling champion.

During the Canada Day long weekend, Foster competed in her first National Arm Wrestling Championship in Saskatoon.

Competing with both her left and right arm, Foster took home silver on the right arm and bronze on the left during Saturdays Masters, and on Sunday during the Open, Foster took home Gold on left and silver on the right.

At the age of 44, Foster has participated in many body building competitions but last year she decided she needed a new athletic outlet.

Foster turned to her husband who has been competing in arm wrestling championships for the past 36 years.

"We went to a few competitions, I said can you show me how to do that," said Foster. "He said, 'Yep, I can show you,' so I'm like OK, but he says, 'You have to give it year, you can't just try it and say, "no I don't like it."'"

After a year of competing, Foster is enjoying the physical aspects and said during each match you use every muscle in your body.

"Your core is tight, your arm is pulled right tight into you, you try to stay as close to your hand as you possibly can. Your wrist, your forearm, your bicep, your shoulder, your back, chest, everything is engaged."

Foster and her husband have made arm wrestling a family affair, including their son in law and  grandson in training and competitions.

Hosting an arm wrestling club in their home, Foster welcomes anyone interested to join.
