Airdrie's own Bowen Lewis has taken his football career to China.

Lewis, who plays for the University of Saskatchewan Huskies, is currently a member of Team Canada for the World U19 Championships for the IFAF (International Federation of American Football).

"It's a great honour playing for team Canada, its really different actually in China, but like I said the compete level of facing like team Austria, team USA is just great." said Lewis.

The tournament was held in Harbin, China this year, beggining June 29th.

Teams from USA, China, Australia, Austria, Japan and Mexico, are among those competing.

Canada suffered their only loss of the tournament against USA in a preliminary game, and beat mexico 28-21 in the semifinals.

Lewis and team Canada will go on to play USA in the finals Sunday, July 10th.

"The first one, we competed with them until the second half, then we kinda fell down, but this game coming up, I think we'll be able to compete for the full game."

USA beat Canada for gold in the 2014 World Championships in Kuwait.
