The Airdrie Irish were successful in winning their first game on Sunday, June 19, against the Calgary Wolfpack.

Playing on their home field, the game did present it's challenges but the team pulled through as a unit and had a victorious 34-20 win.

Head coach Sean Stewart said there were some parts of the game that the players weren't so sure of.

"The biggest thing was just keeping the guys engaged. They got down early. We actually went into halftime behind so it's just keeping the guys focused and engaged and keeping their confidence level up so they know they can win."

The coach adds that he is proud of his team for taking home their first win.

"They did well. They came out, they came out focused. They had a little bit of adversity in the beginning and they got it together and they played as a team. When they play as team, you can see what happens. They came out strong in the second half and they kind of ran away from it, so it was good," he said.

With their confidence renewed, the team will be playing their next game on Saturday, June 25, against the St. Albert Stars.
