The Airdrie Irish have yet to win a game this season following last nights loss to the Central Alberta Buccaneers.

The game looked like it might be a close one after both team's defences stopped any offence from generating until the last play of the first quarter when the Buccaneers crossed into the endzone. The point after attempt was good, and the Buccaneers lead the Irish 7-0 going into the second.

The Irish offence looked like it had some life in it in the second when a huge run had them within 20. However, three interceptions put any powerful drive in a frozen state. Both defences played very well, making sure that there was no scoring in the second quarter.

The third saw more of the same. The Buccaneers marched it up the field with occasional strong plays, but the clutch Irish defence stopped them in their tracks several times. One giant sack on third and goal had the Irish keeping it to within one.

During the fourth, it was all Buccaneer football. The Irish could not stop the driving offence and the Buccaneers stretched the lead to 14-0 after a touchdown. Despite another big run from the Irish, the Buccaneers got the ball back and took it in for one more touchdown.

When the game ended, the score showed the Irish losing 21-0.

Coach Daniel Craig said the game was frustrating.

"Everything is there, we just need to execute."

Craig said that the Irish struggled to get their offence going.

"Some new bodies coming in, some inconsistencies and maybe something they were doing on defence. It seemed that it was pretty simple, what they were doing so we should have been able to execute, which obviously we weren't."

Despite the loss, Craig said he was happy with their defensive performance.

"We know our defence is going to hold us in it. It's going to come on offence, it's going to be repetition and practice. It will come and we've got a good enough defence. Once it comes, we're going to start rolling."

The Irish will have to wait until July 6th before they have a chance to play again. Their next game is against the Calgary Wolfpack.
