After a spectacular opening ceremony last night (August 9) the Western Canada Summer Games shift into high gear for day two today.

Some of the Airdrie athletes at the games get into action today with one taking part in her second game of the event.  Nyema Ingleton will be back on the pitch today playing with the Team Alberta female soccer squad.

Ingleton and her teammates had little trouble in their first match yesterday, pounding Team Northwest Territories 10 - 0.  Today they'll meet the Yukon.

In the pool, 15-year-old Wyatt Doucette will compete in a pair of Special Olympics backstroke events, the 50m and 100m.

And Nathan Wong of Calgary, who swims with the Nose Creek Swimming Association, will be in the 100m and 200m butterfly.

The games continue until August 18th.
