The Airdrie West Side Championship is back in the hands of the George McDougall Mustangs.

This past Thursday (September 7), the Mustangs and W.H. Croxford Cavaliers faced off in the West Side Championship. The Mustangs defeated the Cavaliers 51-7, reclaiming the championship belt after losing to Croxford last year.

"I think we executed our game plan perfectly. I'm really proud of the performance we had," explained Chris Glass, Head Coach of George McDougall.

The Mustangs Quarterback, Kohen Bohnet had another five-touchdown performance. His first was in week one against Chestermere.

Airdrie's third high school, Bert Church Chargers had a tough game Friday (September 8),  losing to the Cochrane Cobras 52-0. The other Rocky View Sports football game that took place was Bow Valley against Chestermere, which Bow Valley won 26-7.

Two RVS football teams are in the top 10 when it comes to Tier II (School Population of 750-1249) football, George McDougall, ranked third and Springback, ranked seventh. These two teams will play each other this Friday at Rundle College, at 4 p.m.

"Not quite sure what to expect for them (Springbank). But we have a really good game plan going into this week. We're just going to focus on what we do well and see what the new look Springbank team is all about," stated Glass.

W.H. Croxford will be looking for their first win of the season when they will take on Chestemere also on Friday, 7 p.m. at Utley Field in Chestemere. Bert Church, also looking for their first win, will play Bow Valley at Spray Lakes Field, on Saturday at 7 p.m.
