Farm Credit Canada's AgriSpirit Fund Application period is open again for the ninth year.  FCC has $1 million dollars to give out amongst different rural community groups across Canada.  Each project can receive anywhere from $5-25,000 and they have to be in rural Canada.

Last year FCC received 1,146 applicants and funds were given out to 120 projects. "We've funded fire associations, community associations, so ranks and swimming pools, we've funded playground structures, agriculture societies and senior homes, so there is really quite a wide variety," explains Brenda Stasuik, Director of Corporate Social Responsibility at FCC.

Stasuik says FCC wants to help in any way they can.  "Our employees and customers work in rural Canada and we realize how important these communities are and we just want to help make them even more vibrant than they already are. These communities are key centres are key to the people who live and work in these rural areas and we just want to do our part to help."

Stasuik says the AgriSpirit Fund is a great way to get funding, and she says the FCC is all about enhancing rural Canada.  Any registered charities, non-profit organizations and municipal bodies in rural areas are invited to apply.

Applications are open until June 18th, 2012 and then evaluations will follow.
