A man was injured yesterday (July 28) when he tried to stop someone from stealing his truck from a home in Beiseker and was struck by the vehicle.

Sergeant Shawn French says the incident started around 8:30 am when Beiseker RCMP responded to a report of a vehicle theft from a residence in the town.

"A black Dodge 3500 pickup was stolen from the residence. When this was occurring a resident from the house tried to stop it and was subsequently struck by the vehicle as it was attempting to flee the scene.”

French says the man received non-life threatening injuries to the lower part of his body. “He was examined at the scene by medical personnel and released."

The stolen Dodge truck and a red Kia Sportage fled from the residence and left Beiseker on a rural road. Both of the vehicles were later observed by members of the Airdrie RCMP detachment and two motor vehicle pursuits were initiated but French explains they didn't last long.

"Due to the volume of traffic and because of concerns for public safety both were called off."

French says, at this time, no arrests have been made. “Nor have we located either vehicle. Right now we’re looking for two males and a female suspect and unfortunately, we don’t have any descriptions to go along with them.”
