If you're planning a visit to Alberta's Provincial or National Parks this Victoria Day weekend you should be aware of new rules, enforcement changes and a new, free shuttle service thatwill make it easier for visitors to Banff and Lake Louise to get around.

First, the new rules, which Alberta Environment and Parks officials say are designed for people's safety and to keep the landscape around for years to come.

If you're doing some off roading on public land on an off highway vehicle, you must wear an approved helmet.  Not doing so will result in a $155 fine.  If you leave your campfire unattended, that will set you back $287.  The parks have hired more seasonal staff to enforce the new rules.

A free shuttle service between Banff, Lake Louise and Lake Minnewanka started on Friday making it easier for visitors to travel between the three scenic areas.  The shuttles run between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm.  Starting in mid June, a weekend shuttle will run from Calgary to Banff.

Parks Canada also wants you to know that they have hired more staff to prevent people from approaching or feeding wildlife this summer.

Tourism numbers are expected to jump this year as Parks Canada has made free passes available to mark Canada's 150th birthday.
