Airdrie will soon have someone else sit in the Mayor's Chair, and his name is Cruise.

Cruise Jackson, who attends Footprints For Learning Academy is this year's Middle School winner for the Mayor For A Day Challenge.

Jackson's winning idea is one that he hopes everyone in the community will take part in.

"At Nose Creek Park, one day in August. All the firetrucks, police cars, ambulances, other vehicles will park their vehicles in Nose Creek so that kids and adults and other people can go inside."

Jackson says he wants to create this special thank you day for local first responders to give back to those that serve the City.

"I like the RCMP and Bylaw and Firefighters and EMS...one day we should maybe say thank you to them for their service."

Cruise is looking forward to the perks of being Mayor For A Day including sitting in the Mayor's chair sometime in August.
