City crews will be busy starting Monday (August 27th) as they will be constructing a pathway along Veterans Blvd.

“There’s a pathway connection that was identified as a missing loop in the overall pathway network in the city,” says Project Manager with Capital Projects Adam Carroll, “We’re going to construct a pathway from Edmonton (Trail) which is essentially the QE2 interchange area, west all the way to 8th Street. There is a section just west of Main Street that’s already there but we’re going to make a full connection. It’s about 1.2 kilometres in length approximately.”

Carroll expects that the work will take around 35 days to complete with minimal disruption to traffic.

“There will be temporary lane closures, they won’t be shutting down an entire lane. You’ll just see a roaming closure where the pylons and the signs will just continue to move down the road as the construction crews move down the road as well.”

Carroll also says that businesses nearby have been notified about the construction.

Part of the pathway will be completed by CP rail as they will put new electronic arms at the rail crossing on the north side of Veterans Blvd.
