Only 2 weeks after kids go back to class, students from Bert Church High School already have an event on the calendar.

Tatiana and Cassandra are part of the 'Charging through Airdrie' fundraiser to help raise money for the Sheldon Kennedy Child Advocacy Centre.

The Advocacy Centre helps kids who suffer from child abuse by offering treatment and therapy, as well as support in bringing their perpetrator to justice.

For Cassandra, this event has a very special meaning due to knowing family and friends who have suffered from child abuse.

"I've know people who have struggled with mental health and child abuse situations and I have always wished that I could have been in a position where I could help them."

By being involved in the centre, Cassandra believes she can help by educating herself to help give those people that are struggling with these problems the direction and the attention they need.

The 'Charging Through Airdrie' fundraiser will be held on Saturday, September 17, starting at 10:30 am, with challenges for each team set up along Main Street.

Both Tatiana and Cassandra said they are looking for 20 teams of 4 to compete in fun challenges, including unlocking a bank safe, frozen yogurt taste testing, yoga poses and much more.
