On June 14 and 15, Calgary City Police and RCMP are conducting their two day motorcade training.

Armoured vehicles and police motorcycles will be in formation throughout Calgary and parts of the QEII, practicing safety measures for transportation of dignitaries when they visit the City.

"We do this annually," said Staff Sgt. Paul Stacey with the Calgary Police Service Traffic Section. "There's two days a year that we schedule for annual training, and it's a joint forces operation with the RCMP security detail."

Stacey said it is quite amazing to see the entire squad of motor officers and dark colored security vehicles traveling in formation.

Officers will be diverting traffic during certain safety exercises, but Stacey said there will be no road closures due to the motorcade training.

"The primary purpose of doing these escorts is for the safety and security of the dignitary involved."
