There's a reason they call it a "mercy" rule.

According to the Foothills Major Baseball Association (FMBA) rule book, if a team is ahead by 10 runs or more after five innings, the mercy rule is invoked and the game is over.

Last night's (May 24) game between the Airdrie Brewers and Calgary Diamondbacks went five innings before being called as the Diamondbacks scored a 13 - 0 win.

The loss for the Brewers was their fifth straight in their first season in the FMBA, leaving them with a 0 and 5 record.  The D'Backs improved to 5 and 2.

The Calgary club pounded out 16 hits and held the Brewers to just three on the night.

The Brewers will try again to break into the win column on Sunday when they take on the Wolfpack in a doubleheader at the FMBA field in Calgary.
