An impressive 2019-2020 season in the Alberta Minor Midget AAA Hockey League continued this weekend for the AC Avalanche, a team consisting of players from both the Airdrie and Cochrane areas.
The Avalanche picked up three of a possible four points with a draw on Saturday followed by a win on Sunday with both games being played on home ice in Cochrane.
Saturday the Avs faced off against the Southeast Tigers from Medicine Hat and battled them to a 5 - 5 stalemate. Aiden Kalin led the offense with a pair of goals with singles coming from Aidan Doornbos, Riley Westlund, and Carsyn Crawford.
On Sunday they faced the Lloydminster Bobcats and doubled them by a 4 - 2 score with Cooper Brown scoring a pair and Noah Edstrom and Colton Alexander collecting a goal each. Carsyn Crawford picked up two assists to go with his goal on Saturday.
The Avalanche are currently tied for second place in the AMMHL South Division with a record of 24-7 and 3 for 51 points.
Their next game is on Saturday at 4:45 pm in the Totem One Arena in the Spray Lakes Sawmill Family Sports Centre in Cochrane when the CNHA Blazers from Calgary will be the opposition.
